So, I wanted to have this for the beginning of 2010. Then, I wanted to wait, because there was projects early this year that I wanted to add. Then, I forgot. Then, I couldn’t find a good song. Then, I got busy. Then, I finally edited it…on March 17th. Not too bad, sorry for all my wiener excuses. Thanks to EVERYONE that made this possible. Thanks to God and my wife. There are both amazing…God is a little more amazing, and my wife is ok with that. Hope you like it, and its cool if you don’t.
Hey gang, in Australia with Dane working on the film and Marine Layer goodness. I love it here, but really miss my family. We are releasing the trailer in a few days. Get ready.
We did a shoot last week for Baron Wells. Baron Wells is a rad new clothing company out of The Big Apple. Ty helped us out and we had a good ‘ole time adventuring and expirementing with all sorts of curious trinkets. The video will be available for your eyes the first week of March at the launch of the Baron Wells site.
It was a mission to get back home. But, we are here and safe. Already working on getting these stories together. The plan is to make a short documentary around 15 minutes or so. Excited to see where it ends up. These stories need to be told. It was the heaviest thing I have ever seen. Images were tragic. People are beautiful.
Help spread the word and get these stories out there. Here’s more info…35 Seconds.
We crossed the boarder from DR into Haiti this morning. No one even checked our passports. We basically drove the coast where the earthquake hit from Port au Prince to Petit Goave (where we are staying). Words do no justice. Every other house or building is gone…rubble. Bodies still in there. Moms. Dads. Sons. Daughters. Friends. Wives. Husbands.
I just left a clinic and met a 5 year old boy with a broken elbow and hip. Full body cast. Been at the clinic with his mom for weeks. Another boy around 9 or 10 with no left leg. A man in his late 20’s that will probably not make it through the night. Doctors here are heros.
We told stories today of the people of Petit Goave. I saw a hotel where 200 people never made it out. ”A 2 year old was in the house and they just found his body a couple days ago,” our guide Ed told us as we drove. Its unbelievable here. You could spend years and years here telling these stories. My heart is broken.
Tomorrow we are going to a tent city where orphans sing. Lord, somehow prepare my heart.
We head out Monday morning. Dustin, Nate Lewis, and myself (Eric). We will fly into Santo Domingo, D.R. and make our way overland to the town of Petit Goave, Haiti. We will be working with a man who has lived in Haiti for years and stood by the Haitian people through thick and thin, Ed Lockett. He looks kinda like Jesus.
It will be extremely difficult. We are thrilled for the adventure, but know we are not prepared for what we will see. We desire to create something tragically beautiful. We hope to portray the rawness, the realness, the heaviness, and hopefully, the hope, that is Haiti.
Please remember us when you pray and we will do our best to keep you updated with stories and photos.
If anyone is in Saint Augustine and would like to donate tarps, light rope, or tents to take down, they need them and we have a little extra room.
